i got it over a year ago and it was working ok .so this is the first time i started it since i got it . i went to start it today it would turn but not start . i checked the spark plugs they were black and wet .when it was running over a year ago it was very smoky grey in colour because the man i got it from put to much oil in the fuel so i gather that's why the plugs were black . any ideas what i could do to check to see what the problem is . thanks

Do a compression and spark test. Spark should jump a 7/16" open air gap on a tester. If those are okay get into the carbs and fuel system.

How did you check spark and how did you check compression. "seems fine" is not a check -- it is a guess.

Is it the same gas in it? Might want to start with fresh.

Did you squeeze til firm the primer bulb? That should fill carbs just for start and then fuel pump take it over refilling bowls....should run this way, bowls full from priming the bulb, starts and if fuel pump is defective stops in a min or 2.

The spark plug on the block trick won't work. Read post # 2 again.
