I cleaned the vst tank and the pump filter screen. Tested the pump with 12v to verify operation. Tested the fuel injectors with 12v and fuel/pressure to examine spray pattern and proper operation. When turning the key to the on position the fuel pressure at the top of the fuel rail goes to about 40 psi. As soon as the pump shuts off the pressure drops all the way to 0 psi. Fast drop to 10 psi then a trickle to 0 psi. Is this normal? While the engine is running the fuel pressure stays at around 40 psi. The engine will start hard and usually shuts off. Shakes a lot while running like its struggling to breath and you can here the intake sucking in air. It increases when you increase the load till it kills itself. Can sometimes raise the rpm to 1000-1200 and fight to keep it running. Long enough to do an injector drop test. They all showed change in rpm and the engine ran more rough when each inj. was dropped. When I first started cracking over the engine for the first time after installing the vst the engine would back fire bad. Then it fired up and stopped the back fire. I pulled the plugs after the inj. drop test and #1 was black and looked sooty. #2 as well but with a little dampness to the plug. #3 and #4 where soaked with fuel. Also wet behind in the passages in the block where the manifold meets up to the block. So I'm thinkin stuck needle assembly causing fuel to pass through hence the lose in pressure and flooding out the cylinders? Is that logical?
