I am looking for a lower unit for my 1987 125 HP Force outboard.
Force 125
Mod 1251X7B
Ser 3795

I think this one is what I need:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORC...ssories_Gear&hash=item2a133333f7#ht_500wt_975

But seller states "HONESTLY THIS IS LEFT OVER FROM LAST YEAR AND I DON'T REMEMBER WHAT YEAR THE MODEL WAS. SHAFT MEASURES 25" FROM THE CAV PLATE TO THE VERY TIP SO I THINK IT'S A 20. CHECK YOURS."

What exactly do I "check" to see if it fits? I have my old lower unit off, so I can measure or photograph just about anything.

Y'know what? He seems to have mis-labeled it. I notice the water inlets are wrong, and it does not have twin vent and fill screws at the top.

Well, I think I found another.

But what is a "20 inch transom"? My transom measures 22" from the outboard mounting bracket where it meets the top of the transom to the bottom directly below that. It's about 25-1/2" from the center of the bottom to the top.

I have a 1987 Force 125 HP, Model 1251X7B, Ser 3795.

They made 2 models a 20 and a 25.
You need to measure the drive from the top of the water pump to the top of the shaft.
Should measure 25-26" Any shorter like 21-22 it's a 20 inch and won't fit your 25
He says the transom is 20 not the drive. It's a 25
Measure yours.
