A grounded tan wire in the system someplace or a bad horn. Start disconnecting all the tan wire connectors you find and see if you can shut up the horn.

Paul,

Does it "chirp" or is it on continuosly? A chirp is normal letting you know the system is functional. A steady tone is the overheat thermostat (s) are grounded.

Re: Warning horn sounding with switch turn on

I found that disconnecting the 3 wire connector to tne VRO stops the horn. I also noticed that there was an oil leak from the VRO or hose clamps. Found several plastic clamps were broken and "loose" screws on the VRO. Replaced hose clamps and tighten screws. At this point I am ready to connect a gas tank to the engine with a 50:1 gas oil mix and try to run the engine to see if the horn will stop after several minutes of running. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Run the mtr on 50/1 and see what happens as it's been sitting for two yrs. May want to turn key on and ground one of the temp senders to make sure your overheat warning works.

The oiler is a vital part of the motor, obviously, keeping oil mixing with your gas. If there is any doubt about it, you can leave it disconnected, mix oil with your gas and the VRO will just become a fuel pump. Thats the cheaper alternative to the problem. Otherwise run 50:1 in your tank and monitor your oil usage. Mark your oil tank with your boat level on the trailer, and make sure thats its using before you go back to straight gas.
