Not exactly guys, they are not all the same.
The newer gimbal bearing for the 98 and newer Gen II drives have a cut down inner race. This allows the extra room needed for the newer style ujoints. Do not use that bearing in the older style drives. The bearing can back out of place.

Thanks for the input. Now about the older and newer models. I have a gimbal bearing for a 1991 and the one I need to use it for is a 1988. Would it work?

They are also "sealed". No more greasing them for maintainance.

Jamz3333, you'll be OK.

Ok thanks. Does anyone know if the gimbal bearing has the slots to knock it 90 degrees to pull it out?

I didnt know that they wanted you to replace the cartridge along with the bearing? Do you have to do this? The bearing I have I dont think come with a cartridge because I got it at a local parts store. Could you buy just the cartridge? Also how do you pull the cartridge? I have pulled just the bearing before never the cartridge.
