I have been given a 73 V-179 by my grand father he had it since 86 it has set since 06 I got the motor running now with a water leak near the pump but I'm working on that......... My question however is on the steering it seems to be tight no matter how much i work it so is it greased in there or how does it work not a huge person on boats first one

Lubricated from the factory. No EASY way to loosen em up. SOMETIMES MAYBE IF YOU"RE LUCKY you can remove the cable, hang it from the rafters, fabricate a "Funnel Cone" from plastic, Duct Tape it to to the end of the cable and make a concoction of mineral spirts and power Steering fluid and hopefully it will seep into the sheath of the cable and re-lubricate it overnight. If not, then $125 bucks later you can have a new cable.
