81 thundercraft flamingo wireing problem

hi guys great site been reading for awhile now just joined so heres my problem i have a 81 thundercraft that i got for free when i hooked up the batt and turned the starter the staryer began to smoke as well as the batt unhooked batt cheaked wiring noticed someone added two wires one from key to power on starter sylanoid the other from key to coil unhooked the wire to the power on starter and used old wireing under dash hooked up batt still smokin changed starter doesnt smoke anymore but barely turns eng over and kills batt in ten mins the wire to the coil to key is suspect as prob as i believe it should fo to sylanoid behind manifold where there are three sylanoids dont know wich one it should go to though nor can i find the original wire under the dash or a schematic for this particular boat does anyone have any ideas of what i should do i appreciate any info anyone can give me and thanks in advance

she has a 305 gm eng omc outdrive

ok just to update i removed the wire that ran to the coil eng still rolls over but very slowly and is drawing power from batt the wiring has been altered everywhere on her so im assuming things are not as they should be i am presently tryin to hook up key switch witch is 4 pole one has bat ign acc and st is batt pos or neg what does ign go to pos on staryer sylanoid or does st go there im at a loss
