Re: impellers

Beware that the unit you have may be a GenII and not a GenI. they are different. I'm sure that the install is similar, but i know that the parts are different.

Re: impellers

You will have a genII.

The only hard part of the job, is when you assemble the upper and lower halves of the drive, you must shift the "shift shaft" to full forward, then make sure the shift foot is pointing straight with the longer end facing outwards. It helps to hold the prop counter clockwise to keep the shift shaft from moving.

Other than that it is VERY simple to do..... Better than paying $125 labor at a shop.

Re: impellers

I just edited the HOW TO, it now includes a separate file for the Alpha I Gen II outdrive.

Thanks again Don!!!

Questions?

1. I read somewhere a special tool is needed, is this true?
2. Is it better to replace with the full kit including the housing? Or just the seals & impeller?

Re: impellers

If gen II housing is fine. If Alpha look at the housing if ANY signs of melted plastic replace.
