Motoring at 4000rpm for 30 minutes. Motor stops dead and white smoke comes out of the engine cowling. No ignition or read-out on dials. Check fuse and 30amp blown. Replace fuse and blows straight away.
Motor taken into dealer. Advise rectifier cooked. I complain to Yamaha as I have seen a number of other threads where this has occurred to F100's. They agree to give me the new part at cost $200 NZ approx as a sign of good will. My motor is a 2003 model with 334 hrs. Can report the new part has been modified. On old part all the wires exit at one point. Could have caused a fire and would have been problems if we had not had the auxiliary. Still not sure of the cause. Battery in VG condition and all connections A1. Motor runs fine on new rectifier.
