I need to find some cable clamps-those that attach under the head cover bolts and exhaust cover bolts and help with wire routing. I haven't yet tried to find original parts but I assume that they'll cost 1000% more than they need to. I'm rebuilding so I want something that will look good and last for more than a year or two.
I looked at a few auto parts stores today and they have zinc plated steel clamps. I'm thinking that the zinc would not be so good due to galvanic corrosion. Is this correct?
I thought about nylon, but heat and the weather would probably take their toll on the clamps in no time and I'll be pulling bolts every few years to replace the clamps.
Fastenal had stainless steel clamps. Would these be okay? I would think that aluminum cable clamps would be best, but I haven't found any at the local places. Perhaps I could order online once I know what material is best.
Lastly, my parts manual lists different cable clamps for my motor. Does anybody know if there is anything special about the clamps that would require different part numbers? Or is it just a matter of the size of the wire that is being routed? Thanks.
