hi all. anybody know how to remove the figures/hood ornaments (not the decals/stickers) from the fiberglass cowl of a '60's OMC? It almost looks like they're held on with nail-like spikes with plastic backings on them, or something. I'd like to be able to get them off without breaking them, in case I get adventurous and want to repaint the cowl over the winter. thanks...

Sorry that I can't help, but I'd be very interested in the answer to this one.

I pulled the ones off my '61 hood. On mine I had to pull the insulation out of the inside and there were plastic disk on the "nails". Only a couple of mine didnt break, so unless you could carefully take them disks off, I'd look around to see if you can find replacements, or maybe you could get a heat gun in and slightly soften them up. Other than that, good luck

Hard to get them off without breaking them. I've replaced them with metal spring clips from a local hardware store. Ones that fit over the diameter of the posts, so take one of the trim pieces with you to be sure you get the right size.
