Iginition type
I have identified my engine as a 1984 25hp chrysler mod 252H4H.I need to identify the type iginition. I have a Clymer manual and from my observations it appeares to be a magneto type but all I read say it is something else. there are two brown wires and the spark plug leads coming from the head.the brown wires have spade connectors on then. also it has a switch on the front of the cowl with spade connectors What is this switch? it is not in any schematic. Also where do the two brown wires go? what type key switch do I need 5 or 6 pole? any help will be greatly appreciated thanks

Re: Iginition Type

That is electric start magneto ignition. The two brown wires are the kill circuit. The spade connectors attach to a pushbutton switch on the center front of the lower cowl. Push to stop the engine.

You need a six terminal push to choke ignition switch if you want to stop the engine with the switch rather than the pushbutton on the cowl. You also need a choke solenoid if you want to choke it from the switch.

I wanted to share a Pic of my choke?s solenoid if you want to choke it from the switch (1970 35 HP Chrysler). I do not know if they are universal but looks simple. Your mechanical choke looks to be connected. Good Luck On Your Challenges! JOW
