please help..mercury 115 inline 6..no fire to 2, 4, and 6 cyl.

trying to figure out a firing problem on a 115 inline 6 mercury..motor was laid up for a while before it was given to me by a friend..tried to start it but it doesnt want to pop off...im getting fire on 1, 3, and 5 cylinders but nothing on 2, 4, and 6. top switch box is for odd number cylinders and bottom switch box is for even numbers...i tried swapping wires from stators on switch boxes...taking wires from top which was firing and put them on bottom switch box and the ones from bottom i put to top box, just to see if i get fire from bottom box..but when i did that i got no fire at all..so im not sure if its a problem with the bottom switch box or stator, someone told me it could be part of that stator that went out causing the problem but im not sure. i really havent messed with outboard motors much i know a little but not much just wanted to ask for some different opinions before i start buying parts lol...if anyone can help that would be great

ok finally figured it out...i completely swapped top box with bottom..after doing so i had no power at all....at that point i took the red and blue wires from the stator that go to the top switch box and put them on the bottom..then i had fire on my even number 2 4 and 6 cyls. so its clear that the stator isnt supplying juice to the bottom box and the other switch box is bad...was able to find another for cheap on ebay for 69 bucks and a stator for 130...so hopefully i will be able to crank her up soon.thanks for the web site to help troubleshoot it helped
