Did it **** before the water pump change?
As far as peeing when it wants, I don't think any motor does that. If anything it won't pee the second you turn it on. Only until the thermos warmed will it then start to pee, then after thermos warmed it should **** until you turn the key off.
Are you testing with muffs, barrel, boat in water?
Have you done your thermostats ?
And if your motor has a poppet, have you done that aswell?
Since the water pump has been changed, it might be a head gasket or seal that seals the exhaust away from the water and vise versa. This is all pretty much requiring the power head to come off and them replaced. I'm doing this project now on my nephew's engine.
My symptoms are it pees fine then stops peeing then just steam and/or exhaust comes out. When in water we have to rev it to make it start pissing again then it will be fine for mabey 5mins then no pee again.
