fly wheel magnets

so im new to iboat and was told that this would be a great place to ask questions and get some good answers so here is my first one i have a 1995 40 hp 4 cyclender outbaord and one of the fly wheel magnets came off and is free spinning in the fly wheel why would this happen the motor has been sitting for a while its like new only been used about a hand full of time runs and starts fine but im not even going to think about turning it over untill i get it fixed the part though is outragously pricey 601. dollors any one know what happend

The magnets are epoxied in. If no damage was done by the wayward magnet you can simply re epoxy it back in place. Check for damage to the stator that might have been caused by the traveling magnet.

thak's so what kind of opoxy should i use and also i know the magnet might have some kind o damage because there was small pieses of magnet stuck to my stater if it is just slightly chipped up can i still use it

A permatex 2 part epoxy will work fine, check the back of the package and get the one with the highest strength in psi.
If it is just chipped no problem, if it is cracked you will have a problem. When you retrieve the magnet post a pic.
