johson 75hp w/ powershift 2 controls

this is kinda crude as i dont know the year on the motor or controls but here goes, the powershift 2 has a tan wire through the lower hole, what is it for?
its not hooked up to anything, but should it be i just bought this boat and am gonna take it out sat, unless advised not to

sorry the motor is the 75 hp stinger with i believe is the long shaft, not sure if its electric shift i am guessing not

im not a mechanic but i have a generic parts repair manual only thing i see on remote that is brown/tan would be a trim gauge indicator, maybe your boat had a trim gauge indicator? but ask a pro here on the forums

but on the engine brown wire i think is a overheat alarm, maybe it runs through to the remote

anyway to find the year check this.

Tan wire is the sensor for the overheat warning horn. I have no idea why somebody extended it outside the control, unless they mounted an external horn.

EDIT: GREY wire is for a tachometer. Are you sure it isn't grey/discolored?
