shift chatter

I have a Bravo III - with the 6.2 mercruiser engine, in a 2001 Sundeck Sea Ray. It chatters when I shift it and seems to accelerate when doing so. Any help would be appreciated in remedying this problem would be appreciated.

Have you checked/changed the gear lube lately? What is the idle rpm of the engine.
