I have noticed a lot of smoke coming from these tubes coming out of the valve cover pcv valve tubes that connect to the breather especially when revving it up, at idle there is very little to none. is this normal or should it only be when running hard or just some fumes?

It`s called "blow-by" .Main cause is from worn rings

Are the tubes positioned correctly (flush) against the flame arrestor? If so, you should not notice any smoke at all. Excessive blow by would dump oil on your arrestor and top of motor. Also, make sure its not steam. Had that problem when I had a cracked, rusted out intake manifold. In that case I had water all over the flame arrestor--water in oil.
Food for thought
