Unknown Outboarder, need Help.

Hello.
A friend of mine just gave me an outboarder which I would like to use for my boat. The Problem is, that we both don't know the type or the name of this outboarder. I found some information on the case, it looks like a serial number:
1518513 FA
Also found some information on the cap of the spark plug:
Kiekhaefer Thunderbolt
And on the carburator:
DELLORTO FHC 20.13 "MADE IN ITALY"
Maybe an italian motor?
Thats it. I allready used the search engine from google.com thats how I found this forum. I also found similar outborder called MAC 3, they have 3HP.I would like to know the name of this outboarder or at least some other information like horsepower or what kind of fuel I should use.

You actually do know the name brand of that motor. It is a Kiekhaefer Thunderbolt. Kiekhaefer became Mercury Marine many moons ago. You have a motor that is probably 40+ years old.

Any idea how much HP this one could have?
In germany we can use an outboarder with a maximum of 5HP without licence.

In all probability it is 2-cycle so you would use 50/1 -- 2-cycle oil and gas

Looks like fun, when I was young my dad had something like that on a small jon boat-

Post your serial number in the Mercury & Mariner section of the forum and you'll get your answer there.

Been running Mercury motors since the late 40's and I have not seen a Mercury that like that. Looks more like an old Iska, or maybe an old Sea King sold by Sears. If the guy has the cowl that goes with it it will probably say what it is. Probably not more than 5 HP at the best. Good luck.
