Ok after changing the impeller on this motor. I put the gear case back in place while putting motor in reverse.It seem to go in fine,but now my engine seems to be stuck in forward.I have took it apart an put back together several times in foward,reverse,neutral,still stuck in forward bout to give up need help..Thanks.

Seem,s a common problem,did you place the gear shifter in forward before dropping the lower unit ? Take a look at my problem post "Mercury 500 water pump" seems a common issue.
