Chalking type oxidation removal

Any one use 3m, Meiguars, or vertglas
I have not done this before and I am going to remove some oxidation from my liberator. It has some chalking. From what I understand I us a light sand like 600+ grit with a rubbing compound to remove the oxi then use polish to fill back in?

When I put the polish back on do i use a buffer or just rub in by hand.

I didn't do any sanding on mine. Just used a high speed buffing wheel and some 3M compound.

just high speed buff with the compound then some gloss or polish? looks great

The 3M compound was a wax and cleaner for light oxidation. That's all i did to it... Just let the buffer and compound keep working till the shine came out. Small area's at a time, like 2' by 2'...

I did my boat on the weekend and did it in 3 steps using the following, Deep Crystal System Paint Cleaner and once that was done I used Deep Crystal System Polish and the very last step was Deep Crystal System Carnauba Wax all made by Meguiars.

Did it all be hand as I find it a better way to get a perfect result, it took all day but was very happy with the finish

sorry to bother you again how much compound did you use? how long would it take at buffing ?

Maybe use half of the 16 oz. bottle... and probably took 3-4 hours.

My boat has enough "chalk" residue for a school to teach for months! The fear I have is if I touch it with chemicals/cleaner what happens.
Gel coat is faded to- any suggestions?
This will be my weekend project this weeknd!

One note- I have tried a wheel with "standard" (my father in law is a car buff person) and it didnt touch the faded part....

So I did it and man it was way easier then I thought. check out the pics. I used megulars compound/polish (rv and marine).

Would you be so kind to detail exact process and products used? I have been slaving away on mine and not a huge amount of luck......

I have a 10 inch wheel buffer. I used a microfiber pad ( well two one on the wheel and one by hand) I would apply a oz or half oz at a a time on the pad and buff and buff and buff. The spots I could not get the wheel on I would buff out by hand. Any excess is wiped off by hand. I used probably only 1/5 of the bottle.

Also, I used some other rubbing compound and it did not do the job. this stuff worked alot better.
