hello all.
on recommendation of some here (thanks, rabbit), I am replacing my worn old rope with a steel cable from iboats here. my dumb question is, what is the correct way to attach it to the winch? I always attached the rope through the sides to start it, but the cable wil assuredly not bend in the same way around the holes, so how does it work? thanks for the assistance as usual. :)

Re: attaching cable to winch

You can fashion a bolt and washer or you can thread the cable through with patience, vice grip and a little bit of cursing! It should never be let out far enough to stress the tie down spot. The first wraps hold it snug.

Bob
