Wiring a test key switch

I have a 40 HP Johnson Book says 1980
J40Eccs
G7723334

It has the wiring harness cut about 3 feet out of the outboard.
This wire harness attaches via a big red plug to another big red plug on the motor. I have an OMC key switch. What I want to do is make a test jack so I can test run the motor.
The wire harness coming out has the following 8 wires
Large Red/black stripe
yellow/ red stripe
Black/white stripe
purp/white stripe
Brown
Purple
Grey
Black
The key switch has terminals marked S, G, A, M, B (there is also a female bolt tap marked M as well)

All I want to do is make the motor run for test purposes.

can anyone tell me how to wire this test pigtail?

J40ECC is a 1988 model, the trailing S is for a factory run or change during the model year.

The odd M post is for the kill wire.

The G is probably a C for choke, though it would run the primer solenoid on your motor.

Excellent! thanks for the info. However next time I decide to run the motor standing in water I'll insulate the key switch first. OUCH!
