1968 johnson 55hp no power

so i am out at the lake and everything working great when suddenly my out board surges a couple of times and then loss of power it bogging out so i remove carbs clean them inspected them as well as fuel pump and still the same thing then at one time when i had it at full throttle and it was boging out i put my hand over the top carb to help my self up and it took off i almost fell in when i removed my hand, back to bogging out so i set the one carb choke plate to 3/4 closed and used it all weekend like that but i still can figure out what is wrong even changed carbs same thing any body have any idea what is going on any help would be appreciated thanx

If choking improved fuel draw then you have clogged arteries, cleaning often isn't enough. Hard to say what you meant by cleaning, spraying carb cleaner isn't good enough.

They require dismantling and rebuilding with new parts included in the rebuild kits along with new gaskets.

It could also be swollen fuel line, a "benefit" of ethanol.
Running it on a substitute tank with new lines and a new bulb will show if thats the case.

well no i did rebuild the carbs new kits even changed carbs still the same any idea

Like Jones said - fuel lines. Try replacing all lines, from the tank to the motor, motor connection to fuel pump, and fuel pump to carbs. You might need to rebuild the carbs again, something from a fouled line could have plugged a jet already...
