force engine battery charging..

Hi...got a force 40hp on a wee bayliner..can anyone tell us if the engine got an active charging system for the inboard 12v battery or do we need to charge the battery on a regular basis as we have a onboard fishfinder/depth guage and sound system..will the engine trickle chare the battery??

The engine has a charging system but it is only 8 or 9 amps. Depending how many starts you make depends on how well it will keep it charged.

hey..thks for the quick reply John..so the engine does supply a trickle charge to the battery then??...thks John..loads

It is not a trickle charge, it is a full 8 or 9 amps depending how much stuff you have running off the battery when the engine is running. The engine has an alternator under the flywheel and a rectifier on the left side.
