Just wonder if anyone knows the RPM range (from idle to wide open) on a 1988 4.3 mercury alpha one with a 2 barrel rodchester carb.

Dave, This sounds like a MerCruiser I/O question. You might repost in the I/O forum.

My 4.3LX would do 700 RPM at idle and 4500 RPM at WOT, with a 21" pitch prop.
