name this part HELP!

I have a 1997 force 75HP the fuel hose goes from fuel pump to ? and then another hose comes out of this part and goes to carb what is this part and what does it do any help would be very helpfull.

The fuel comes from the tank to the fuel pump to the carb. The part with three lines on it is the fuel pump.

take a picture of it. it sounds like it might be a vacuum switch. are there any wires coming from it?
