I finally fgured out what is wrong with my powerhead. The exhaust baffle is bad with a crack and big hole. It is part number 314849, it seems impossible to find one but I am able to locate some from newer years. They look the same but with a different part number. My outboard is a 69 evinrude 85 hp. Would they be compatable? Thanks

Re: Part number cross reference

www.shop.evinrude.com lists this part as "dealer direct." Aong other things, that means that places like sea-way marine will not have it. If they don't have it, you can bet the part is going to be hard to track down.

If there is any possibility of welding the part and reusing it, you may need to consider that option. You will have to seek out a very skilled welding shop, however, so that the part is not warped durign repair.
