I purchased boat and motor (1985 Johnson VRO 40 HP) and motor would only open up 1/2 way and bog. Runs great at lower speed. Changed plugs after 1st outing and ran fine next 6 outings. Put in lake this year and ran good to dock, left running 10 mins and took off and same old problem, changed plugs and ran seafoam through gas tank for 3 gals. Still boggs down. The vro has been disconnected and gas is being mixed before I bought. I noticed a few posts similar, how it can work fine sometimes and then not. Will try the pumping bulb under load. Being the vro is disconnected, would that change the fuel pump I need? Is there a special timing thing with the vro model? I have been trying the gapless plugs. I believe I started motor with either plug disconnected. Just want to know where to channel my efforts, Thanks
