Brought this boat home on sunday july 12th 2009 after working out a short time layaway program :) goes to show trust and a handshake still go a long way these days . anyhow this is what it looked like parked at the PO place. i has been in that spot for 12 years that trailer is a new 1997 shorelandr. he bought the trailer and brought it home it has sat there ever since. the PO had some serious back surgeries that year and has not been able to touch it since.

Re: 1976 Starcraft SuperSport 22' Overhaul

Ok monday the 13th i gutted everything i could to get the floor out i left the cockpit in there just hanging i dont wanna open more cans of worms at one time try to keep it to a minor disaster at each level. my plan for this boat is to rig it for fishing i wont be redoing the exterior paint at this time. just the interior will get an overhaul. im not looking for period correct just fishable! new floor new pedestal seating. the front deck will be just that a deck for fishing no wrap around seating here. looks like ill need a new transom as well and a new steering cable.

ready for the floor to come up
IMG00100.jpg

section by section pretty wet and fairly rotted but came out just fine to use as a template!!! very important to me this will save hours when its time to cut the new decking.. YAY STYROFOAM no poured foam to chisel out!

IMG00106.jpg

im wondering if this is factory or has this floor been out and replaced before. i think its been out tell ya why in a minute

IMG00102.jpg

looks like an older application or gluvit? i dont remember seeing this in the 1980 SS i did a few years back makes me think its been redone at some point

Ozz welcome to iboats and the ever expanding Starcraft club . Thats my next boat :D. I have a 16' Jupiter V I am in the middle of now and want a 22' SS or Holiday next to go with it :D. Hopefully yours is like most of ours and has the foam blocks under the deck ( they will be quite heavy for large pieces of styrofoam ) LOL. I tossed most of mine and will go back with the pink foamboard they sell at the Box stores.

Your progress is looking great. I absolutely LOVE that boat. Can't wait to see the finished project. I also have one of them there 22 month old future fishing partners :)

When I ripped mine apart I also found white waterlogged styrofoam under the floor. I just put back what wasn't waterlogged but that was before I knew about this site. Now I would definitely replace it with the pink or blue sheet foam like this http://forums.iboats.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=32836&d=1247487634

ozz,

we have similar boats - ours is a 85' I/O.

I love the style of it and you are going to love rigging it for fishing. Ours is a fishing machine! Lots of room for trolling and no one ever gets in the way.

Good luck on the project - great find!

Re: 1976 Starcraft SuperSport 22' Overhaul Lotsa Pics

tuesday 7-14-09 made a lil progress got home from work at 730 had a bite to eat then ran out to put in my coat of Gluvit ! my moms bf was off work today and he came over and scrubbed the hull down for me a second time to let it air dry till i got home. had a quart of gluvit nd i used every drop i had couldnt justify a gallon but a quart was cutting it real tight but oh well just cheap insurance i found no loose rivets yet and i know its an aluminum boat they leak a lil its ok :)

here was before

IMG00108.jpg

and after the spots you see were an original sealant of some sort. whatever we couldnt ire brush or scrape we left heck it worked that long and is still stuck why not use it i figure this is what helped me stretch my lil quart of gluvit to make it work

tomorrow if the storms hold off im gonna show ya'll a lil trick i used on my last boat to stiffen up the floor. 1/2 plywood is perfect but only if i do my lil ladder system i used on my last project makes the floor stiff as well a board! :)

Thanks For Looking

You are doing a great job, it is looking good. I am also doing a SS but am a little behind you. How is your transom? I have got to redo mine and wanted to see someone elses progress on an SS transom. LOL

I am rebuilding a 74 ss and would love to see how you have rigged for fishing. I am still at the planning stages for much of the topside stuff.

Hey Keith, your post just reminded me of this one http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=212191 This member hasn't posted in over a year unfortunately but his SS is one of the best I've see EVER. I gotta go post this Kev or Andy's thread so they can check it out.
