serial number omc

Hi all.
Need a little help. Were can I find the serial number for a 4.3L GM engine . I looked at valve covers found nothing. I found about half a sticker on the stat housing but only the top half and nothing stamped under it . I have all other numbers and it is a 1987 boat . Boat place allways ask for this number.Any help would be great .

mine was stamped on the intake manifold, i think. right on top, easy to see. if the boat was here right now i'd go look.

I did see the firing order and a gm number but it is cast into the intake . I'm a heavy equipment tech for a CAT dealer in mke so I see these casting numbers alot thought it might be part number of intake manifold .
