flushing motor

put a pair of muffs on unit,should there be water comming out of pee hole.1971 650,do I have to start motor first and let it warm up or will this cause damage. book says 5 seconds of run time without water will damage impeller.have no owners manual to give me locations of exhaust .thanks for the help.-----walter

put on the muffs, turn the hose on all the way and start the motor. you shouldnt run much higher than idle when on a hose though.
you do need the motor running to flush as the water pump only turns when the motor is running.

Walter, water will exit teh grates above the antiventilation plate above the prop. Some will exit the prop hub. Some may come out of the square holes at the base of the powerhead. Those telltales clog very easily. When the motor is running stick a wire up the telltale to clear it.
