Hello, I tried to search for the answer but couldn?t find it. I am working on a 1984 Johnson 6hp model number J6SLCRM. Its been giving me many problems so far but I think I finally got it running. Now I want to hook up the battery charger. From what I have read from the Clymer Manual there isn?t any charging system on the 6hp only on the 9.9hp. But mine defiantly has rectifier and a wire block that looks just like the 9.9hp Electrical start wire diagram.
The Question is on the rectifier there are Four Wires, From Left to Right..(Yellow, Yellow & Grey, Yellow & Blue, Red) I have put a volt meter on the Terminal block and it appears that if I want to charge my battery off the motor, I need to hook the Red wire to the positive on my battery and the Yellow & Grey wire to the negative of the battery. I am getting around 9 volts at idle and 14-15 or so at wide open. I will be using a Flexcontroler NC25A-12 to control the charging of the battery.
Also I am trying to see what the max amps the motor will put out I belive is around 5 amps. So from what I can determine I would need at least 12 AGW wires from the motor to the battery.
If anyone knows about this please let me know.
Thanks
