Schools that will repair boats

Back in my homeland if you had a car that had any problem, mechanic or body, you could get in contact with some schools and if the problem matched what they were teaching they will tell you when to drop the car and the school will fix it free of charge. You would only have to supply the parts.

Is this done here in continental USA?
I have a second boat that need some miniman repairs to the hull but I cant find time to get to it. I wonder of there are such schools in the charlotte/gastonia area that I could take advantage of it...

it is possible. when I went to Tech school we did some minor work for people. It was the same deal, if it fit in with what was being taught and the person had time to leave it it was a possibility.

I would check with schools that have either autobody or possibly some type of metal fabrication program.

Back 31 years ago(in Miami) I was that person that the teachers and others brought their cars to 2 hours of regular school 3 hours of auto mech now not 1 school offers it in my area :( I stayed in the trade about 1 year because i was tired of the grease,traded my wrenches for a paint brush and a sprayer.:D

Actually, there is one around here.
Seems boys that have gotten into some trouble can go here...it's quite small.
And they work on boats.

we have a totally technical magnet high school. all trades, even aviation.

We have a auto tech hs school here and my son is in the first year.

A person can bring in a auto, but i can ask if they would do boats?

Well, that gives me hopes. Let me see if I can chase down the schools system around here. I might get lucky...
