Okay...my goodness a lot of opinions on foam... here is my boat...and the foam I found underneath it...There is just a little in the front which is dry...can I just remove this bit of foam and glass the hell out of my stringers or should I put the foam in and let it take on water...I mean does this little bit of foam do anything for the boat????

My boat is a starcraft 15foot long...70 evinrude

Re: Foam question sorry...pic of foam in boat

there's a pretty long thread about foam, couldn't find it though.

this is what i did... http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=247834

i also drilled limber holes in the stringers when i added them to let water drain to the bilge if it ever gets where it 'shouldn't'. foam is a requirement only for manufacturers of boats under a certain size. it doesn't do much for a boat that's floating properly...deaden some noise probably.

Before you glass the stringers, you might test them for water intrusion.

dig out every oz of foam. cut the top of the stringers, and dig the wood out. replace the wood, re glass. if the foam is structural, you need it.....(it didnt look like it).....if its not structural.......well......you might want to leave it out.
