how to transport outboard motor

It's my first outboard it's a 10hp. I'll put the boat on my camper but can i
lie the motor down in my truck or does it to stand up.

Its fine to lay it down...as long as its not a four stroke. I know that Mercury four strokes will leak oil back into the intake and carb if you lay them down on the wrong side...

You might want to drain the fuel from the carb before you transport it.

Clamp a piece of wood in the transom clamp to keep it from rolling around and then use a couple of bungees to keep it in place.

the also make a receiver hitch for the front of the truck, and an outboard bracket that goes into the receiver. then you can also insert your draw bar, connect the trailer for tight maneuvering the trailer. makes spotting the trailer a breeze.

I bought a BigFoot bag for mine. Appears to work well. A medium is big enough for my 25 HP.
