johnson 40 hp help

model # 40R75C, serial # J4246638, need to find out what year it is and a good place for info about it. hard to start, runs like crapp, missing parts-has a stick stuck in a hole on lower right side of motor just above where two lines come from right side of motor-one from each cylinder. thanks for any help!

even a blind squirrel finds a nut. looking through repair manuals links 40R75C would be a 1975 motor-maybe. is this a good motor?

Yes, a 1975, good motor when it came from the factory. Hard to tell what it suffered since then, but the stick sort of sounds like a clue.
