I'm rather new to fishing, but I would like to up-grade my current boat. Most of my fishing is for crappies, blue gills, walleyes. Wisconsin lakes, rivers, and the Mississippi River. The boat I'm looking at is a Lund 1600 Alaskan (actually it's 16'10") tiller steer, 60 hp Evinrude etec.
I'm a big guy 350 lbs., with a bad hip and knee that is the biggest reason for the flat floor of this boat, no casting platform. Tiller for back-trolling. Aluminum for it's ability to take a beating, also it's low weight.
Is my choice a sound one?

Sounds like a perfect boat for what you do. That Lund will hardly notice that you got into it.

Re: New Boat

as long as i has a 20 inch transon. motor and 350lbs is a lot in the stern of a boat. you may want to put the splash guards on each side of the motor, for back trolling.
this was my drift boat for Crappie.
