Mercury 3.6 What year is it?

Hi,

I have a Mercury 3.6

The number markings I have found are on the side 843-7695 and on the front under the carb 9377 342.

Do these numbers correspond with a model and or serial number that will tell me the year of the outboard?

I know this is a very, very old thread, but on the off chance you still have this motor, ....
The 3.6 was only made for three years - 1980, 1981, and 1982.
The serial # will tell you if it was an 80-81, (lumped together by the factory) or if it was an 82.
(If memory serves, the division was somewhere around # 7xxxxxx)

Whether the OP has the motor or not, he hasn't been here in more than 9 years.
