My 1990 Mercury 40hp 2 stroke on our pontoon blows its engine fuse shortly after we leave the dock. The stator and switch box were both recently replaced by a mechanic who we no longer deal with so getting his advice is out of the question. Any ideas/solutions would be greatly appreciated :)

The fuse is for the ing. switch and trim etc. so start checkint the wires that run to the switch and thing in the front of the boat if you don't find anything there check the wire and powertrim circurt.

What is the ing. switch? The thing in the front of the boat? Do you mean the key ignition and throttle box?
