You have a detuned 50hp motor. The 40hp version gets smaller carbs and a restricted exhaust tube. Keep a watch on ebay for a burned up 50 to get the parts you need to convert. My jet now gets another 500rpm and 5mph pushing my 1648 jon.
I have a 1998 yamaha jet. This motor is a 40 hp. power head. The 40 and 50 share the same specs. Is there anything I can do to get the 40 to a 50? Everything I have researched on these motors is identical.
