If you get it idling smoothly, and it either craps out or speeds up significantly when you hook up the idle stabilizer, chit can it before you roast your engine.
They sometimes fail, severely moving the bias voltage and significantly advancing the timing, resulting in detonation and it's resulting damage.
If it's in good shape and operating normally, it's nice to have some of the initial startup "nursing" automated.
