Hello All, I just bought a boat with a 1987 Yamaha 70 Hp. Couple of questions. Does this engine recharge my battery or do I need to pull the battery and charge it myself? When I put the boat away, it usually sets for a couple of week, should I run all of the fuel out of the carbs for storage? Thanks in advance.

It should recharge your battery while it runs so long as it has a working alternator. I always run the gas out of my carbs on anything if it's going to sit for a while. There's nothing worse for a carburetor than letting gas and oil sit in it for extended periods of time...

if you stabilize the gas no need to run the carbs out of gas

It charges the battery but the current is not regulated. A low tech way of doing things and that is why the owners manual tells you to use a battery that is not sealed so that you can add water if it has been overcharged.
