hey guys, have a 60 horse merc on a triumph center console, battery ran out of water and was junked after warnings said the battery voltage was low, we replaced it with a duramax deep cycle from autozone and it seems to turn over the motor and everything correctly, but the voltage is still dropping with the motor running and the bait tank running, is there a simple way to test the electrical output from the motor

If your boat has a voltmeter on the console, run the engine at about 2000 rpm. If its not reading 13.5 volts or so the charging system is not working. Check, clean, and tighten the battery cables at both ends. Loose or corroded connections create resistance. If those are ok, then its time to look at the charging system and don't be surprised if the regulator is bad.
