tell tale hole

I have reviewed my manual but cant find a reference to where the tell tale hole is on my motor. can anyone tell me where to find it?

1985 50 hp evinrude

Is there a black water line coming from your block to a little nipple on the cowl somewhere? that is it

Ok, I see the black nipple but I dont understand how water is supposed to come out of it, there is no hole?????

Duh, the hole was blocked. I unblocked it and here came the water!!

Glad you found it, important to keep that nipple clean, they get dirty fairly often when stored, so keep an eye on it.

especially those pesky spiders, found a pretty big wad of spider web in mine !!
