Hey there, I'm a newbie to the boating world, I just bought a 17ft fibreglass Rienell boat with 1973 evinrude 65 hp motor. It fires up, but I need to keep pumping the fuel tank ball to keep it running. I suspect it may be a fuel pump, how can I be sure? I tried the search feature but couldn't find an answer. FWIW It's a 3 cylinder Triumph model.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If you have to keep squeezing the bulb to sustain fuel flow it certainly sounds like a fuel pump issue. If your motor has the fuel pump with the 3 hoses, I would pull the pulse hose and check for signs of fuel.

Thanks, I'll check that out in the morning. I've ruled out the bulb by swapping it with a buddies that we know works, so that leaves me thinking it's the pump!

I agree it most likely point to the pump. Is the vent open on the tank?

Degsey - why did you bump this?
