Hello, I just got the manual and a parts list for this motor. ser. no. 4402748. It is a manual start but did have the option for an electric start. I do not have a starter. actually I never looked. But I assume that if it did there would be a starter switch. The motor is still in the shed. Havent tore into it for the year yet. IF the stator and the voltage regulator are there. According to the parts and book it is, Is it capable of charging a battery or is it strictly for lighting only? I did not find anything on its capabillity. The merc manual just shows the output terminated at a plug. would this be on the outside of the motor or would I have to run the wires up inside. Thanks.

If the engine has a stator it will either charge a battery (must have a rectifier) or work as a lighting coil without the recttfier
