Yes it is. Can also be caused by the control module. Lots of posts on ohming the sensor. If it checks ok then likely the control module.

Thanks for the reply Ray. I couldn't find how to test the sensor but with the sensor out of the tank I moved the float and it operated the low oil light and alarm. I checked the wire which goes to the pump and no matter what position I put the float in the 12 volts never goes away to the pump. So I'm afraid it's the control module as you said it could be.
