Hi, I have a Yamaha 250hp with a 30" shaft that I want to put on a new boat (hull) with a 25" transom. The dealer says that all will be fine with a jack plate. Does this sound okay to anyone else? The jack plate will be set back 6" and that seems like a lot of torque on the transom to me. Any advice would be great.

Whats the hull rated for?

If the hull is rated for 250+ HP it should be OK. Obviously some hulls are stronger than others. Call the manufacturer of the hull.

Good luck!

As far as runability itll be fine. The only thing that would bother be is that youd be changing the fulcrum point and addin more sterss to the transom. Think of it as a see saw, if ya move the fulcrum point more to one side, it makes it easier to lift the weight on that side. If it was my boat, id say NO GO!
