1999 bluewater 150 replacing water pump?

I was just wondering how would i remove the lower unit on this motor and disconnect the shift linkage. also when replacing the water pump should the base be replaced? Any tips would be great!! I have a seloc book but it sucks.<br /><br />Any help would be great<br /><br />dave

Check your local library for a better service manual. Once you have the lower unit off, instructions are supplied with the water pump kit (assuming you get it from Mercury and you replace the entire pump).
